I've spent most of my life trying to ignore the birds around me. Now I am getting such a kick out of these visitors to my newly purchased feeder with the spycam. They are hilarious! There is certainly a hierarchy in the bird world - kind of like high school. The Tufted titmouse and the Black-capped chickadees (think debate clubbers) will defer to the Downy woodpecker (validictorian) but the Downys defer to the feeder-squatting House finch (think lunchroom bully). They all scatter for the Northern cardinal (prom king / queen) and the cardinal thinks he's big and bad until the Blue jay (football blu chip) checks in. Of course, the a-hole squirrel pisses in the punch bowl. There is one in every class.
