Good help is so hard to find

  1. I think I recognize him. He's the one that directed me to the appliance department when I asked where I could find paint. When I informed him of his error later, he told me he'd investigate, but any reasonable person would probably not blame him for his error.

  2. I miss the good old days when spy vs spy was or cia vs kgb was kept from the general public. If the Ruskies hacked the emails under obama's watch and without repercussions, then the democrats failed to protect our national interests and they deserve to be thrown out. Further, this is not something we should be whining about unless are "hands are clean" from other countries political affairs. I believe this whole affair should have been dealt with at the highest level and not in the press (again obama dropped the ball here). The fact that this is still being bantered about makes us appear weak. This issue needs to be put to rest asap and I'm hoping that Mike Rogers comes in and does just that.

  3. Jess, I second Kid's 'Haha" I hear they didn't fire him, but moved him to the entrance hot dog cart. This can't end well :)

    Kid, agreed!

dr H, bringing your 'A' game! It seems that nobody liked Comey in the job and felt he was an incompetent boob, but partisanship trumps common sense these days.

  4. BTW, I had to make a couple trips to the local Home Depot after work last night. The first trip was to purchase a new garbage disposal. The second trip was to get the cord and plug kit. I assumed the cord was already attached like the one I was replacing. Great. I'm neither a plumber nor electrician - sh*& 'bout to get real, brah! Now I need to figure out how to get the left side sink drain removed, as the strainer locknut is frozen solid before I can put plumbing back together. Is there a solvent that will melt the thing? HEY! I know! The new hot dog guy might know! Stay tuned!

Thanks for checking back here as I know I've been blog slacking.

  5. P.B. Blaster is about the best for loosening up rusted fittings. I've seen it at the local Home Depot, so yours probably has it too.

The sink strainer lock nut can be a bear to remove. The last time I had to deal with one ended with the strainer spinning, and no way to jam it for complete removal.

My solution was spending a few minutes removing the entire sink, turning it over, and using an edge cutting saw to cut the nut. After that, replacing the sink was another few minutes of work; and I probably saved a few hours of cussing, while chiseling away at the strainer.

  6. oh no... I hope I don't have to disassemble everything to get that off... I have the same issue... strainer spinning free like a top. I gave up last night and can't even look at it again until Friday night or Saturday... told the wife to rinse the dishes in the tub Cosmo Cramer style...

  7. Without looking at what you're talkin' bout.I'm not sure whatcha got. But if you untwisted the disposal, then the part up underneath the sink has a clip or ring on it that can be removed with a screwdriver. This is what allows the thing to spin freely. Look for a metal clip and remove that first.

  8. Yep, that ring thingy was tricky, but not the problem.
